BOARD MEMBERS

Dr. Abdul Gaffar, Chairman

Dr Abdul Gaffar has been involved in the school community since 2002 when the school was first established. From the very first cohort of students and staff, Dr Gaffar has seen the school progress substantially to where the school stands today. As a parent himself, he has had three of his own children graduate from Minarah College. His passion for education and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children led him to diligently participate in the growth and development of the school.

Dr Gaffar has been actively involved in the progression of the school being the deputy chair in the years 2016-2017. He has also served the Muslim League as a secretary and as chairman of the Shura council.

Dr Gaffar has graduated with the Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago (NZ) and has also worked in Queensland and NSW for more than twenty years. He owns and manages a successful private practice situated in Southwest Sydney.

Faizal Aliaz Ajmat – Treasurer

Faizal is an audit partner at DFK Laurence Varnay Chartered Accountants. The firm is a member of DFK International and is based in Sydney CBD. He started his audit career at Price Waterhouse Coopers in 2001 and has been an audit partner since 2011. Faizal is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree together with Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting & Fin Mgmt. He is a registered company Auditor since 2010 as well as a registered Tax Agent since 2008. Faizal is also the current chairman of DFK Australia & New Zealand (DFK ANZ) Audit Committee. This committee comprises of audit partners from various chartered accounting firms within the DFK ANZ Group. He is also a member of DFK international audit committee.

Noreen Saajda Habib, Secretary (Independent Director)

With over 15 years of experience in national and international commercial organisations, Noreen brings strong business partnering, stakeholder management and decision-making abilities. An expert in identifying gaps and driving performance, she has been part of robust leadership and management teams across various industry sectors. A CPA by profession, Noreen has recently joined an Australian owned and operated company in the FMCG industry. Noreen is a member of Meat Business Women (MBW), a global network of women in the meat industry.

Soma Soltani Mohammed (Independent Director)

Soma Soltani Mohammed is a Laboratory Manager at NSW Health Pathology. Soma has more than 20 years’ work experience in various clinical laboratories in teaching hospitals. She has completed Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at University of Technology Sydney.

She is responsible for managing the laboratory to provide an efficient and effective service across operational management as well as compliance management, financial planning, and reporting. Soma oversees department performance and corporate risk management, human resources management and strategic planning.

In addition to having a wealth of professional experience, Soma has extensive experience working in other charity/non-for-profit organisations and she understands the need to giving back to the community and her civic duties.

Samsun Nisha Ali (Independent Director)

Samsun Nisha Ali is a retired high school teacher, and retired administrative assistant in the South West Sydney Area Health Service. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Diploma in Education. Samsun Ali has worked in a Muslim high school in Fiji and was the Head of the English Department till retirement. Samsun was a former Secretary of the Liverpool Muslim Women’s Association.
